Step-by-step guide
About 5 minutesWhy am I still using some grid power?
Understand short grid imports even when solar or battery power is available.
Need the Sigenergy monitoring app? Open the app articleBefore you start
Open the live energy-flow screen and note the time, battery percentage and appliances running.
- 01Check whether the grid import is a brief spike or continues for a long period. Short imports can occur while the system responds to a kettle, air conditioner, pump, washer or dryer starting.
- 02Check the battery percentage and reserve. A battery at its minimum or backup reserve will normally stop discharging for everyday use.
- 03Check whether the appliance may be on a controlled-load circuit or another circuit not supplied by the battery. Backup circuits and normal solar/battery supply are not the same thing.
- 04For a three-phase home, the monitoring app may show the combined result across phases while an individual phase briefly imports. Your retailer meter may also record intervals differently from the app.
- 05Take a screenshot during the import and another after five minutes. If sustained grid use continues while solar or battery power should be available, create a ticket with both images and the appliances running.
ImportantA small or brief grid import does not automatically mean the system is faulty. Esena can review meter direction, CT configuration and circuit arrangements when the pattern is repeated or sustained.
