Step-by-step guide
About 5 minutesSOFAR blackout and backup
Use only the automatic or labelled customer changeover arrangement supplied with your SOFAR installation.

Confirm the outage is real, check battery percentage in the SOFAR app and locate the labelled backup arrangement described in your handover.
- 01If your SOFAR installation has automatic backup, do not switch off the main supply to test it. Wait for the labelled backup circuits to transfer.
- 02If your handover identifies a customer-operated changeover, turn off high-load appliances and follow the label exactly. Never force a switch or open the switchboard.
- 03Use only the circuits connected to the backup output. A partial-home system will not power circuits that remain connected to the grid.
- 04Check the SOFAR app for battery percentage, backup status and overload warnings. Do not change installer settings or repeatedly reset a breaker.
- 05When grid power returns and is stable, follow the handover label or leave an automatic system to reconnect. If backup does not start, call Esena on 1300 239 296.
ImportantSOFAR backup wiring, automatic transfer and changeover positions are installation-specific. Follow your Esena handover, not a generic internet sequence.
