Step-by-step guide
About 5 minutesWhy is my home using grid power when the battery has charge?
Check reserve settings, household demand and phase or circuit arrangements before reporting a fault.
Need the Sungrow monitoring app? Open the app articleBefore you start
Open the live energy-flow screen and note the battery percentage, active mode, grid import and appliances running.
Sungrow customer note
Sungrow customers: check iSolarCloud battery SOC, reserve and operating mode before reporting sustained grid import.
- 01Check the battery’s minimum SOC or backup reserve. A battery may intentionally stop discharging once its reserve is reached.
- 02Check whether the grid import is a short spike or continues. Large appliances can briefly exceed the battery’s output and draw the balance from the grid.
- 03For a three-phase property, an individual phase or circuit may import while the app shows combined home and battery flow.
- 04Some hot water, heating, EV or controlled-load circuits may be supplied directly by the grid and may not be backed up by the battery.
- 05Check for a time-of-use schedule, VPP or remote energy-management mode that may be holding the battery. Do not change installer settings.
- 06If grid use is sustained while the battery has charge, take screenshots five minutes apart and create a ticket with the appliances running.
ImportantBrief grid import can be normal. Repeated or sustained import needs the app flow, meter arrangement and backup circuits reviewed together.
