Confirm the outage is real, turn off high-load appliances and check the battery percentage in your monitoring app.

Tesla customer note

Tesla customers: check the Tesla app for Powerwall SOC, Backup Reserve and Gateway alerts. Do not move a switch unless the Esena handover clearly labels it as customer-operated.

  1. 01Check the Tesla app for battery percentage, Backup Reserve, an overload notice or a Gateway alert.
  2. 02Turn off high-load appliances and wait a few minutes for the backup system to stabilise.
  3. 03Confirm whether your installation is partial-home backup; non-backup circuits will remain off during an outage.
  4. 04Do not move the main switch, Gateway or Backup Switch unless your Esena handover clearly identifies a customer-operated position.
  5. 05If backup still has not started, call Esena on 1300 239 296 and send a photo of the labelled switchboard and Tesla app alert.

ImportantDo not troubleshoot during extreme weather or touch electrical equipment. Tesla support can also be accessed from the Support area in the Tesla app.
