Step-by-step guide
5–10 minutesTesla Powerwall not charging or discharging
Use the Tesla app to distinguish backup reserve, schedule and protection behaviour from a fault.
Need the Tesla monitoring app? Open the app articleOpen the Tesla energy-flow screen and note the battery percentage, Backup Reserve, operating mode and any alert.
- 01Check the battery percentage and Backup Reserve. Powerwall normally keeps the reserve available for an outage.
- 02For charging, confirm there is surplus solar after household use, or confirm the app is configured to charge from the grid when permitted.
- 03For discharging, check whether the battery is holding its Backup Reserve or responding to a time-based control, Storm Watch or other customer-visible mode.
- 04Record any alert and take a screenshot before changing a setting.
- 05If the battery remains unable to charge or discharge through a clear solar period, create a ticket with the flow, percentage and alert screenshots.
ImportantTesla protection, temperature, reserve and grid controls can temporarily limit charge or discharge power. Do not change Advanced Settings unless Esena approves the change.
