Step-by-step guide
About 5 minutesWhy am I exporting while the battery is charging?
A small amount of export while charging can be normal. These checks help separate normal flow from a meter or configuration issue.
Need the AlphaESS monitoring app? Open the app articleOpen the live energy-flow screen and capture a screenshot showing solar, home load, battery and grid at the same time.
AlphaESS customers: capture the AlphaESS real-time flow, battery SOC and Work Mode together.
- 01Check the live power units. kW is the current flow; kWh is the energy total over a period.
- 02Compare solar production with household load and battery charge power. Solar can exceed the combined load and charge rate, leaving a remainder to export.
- 03Allow for fast changes when an appliance starts or stops. The app, inverter and meter may refresh at slightly different times.
- 04Check whether a battery schedule, reserve, VPP or export limit is controlling the charge rate. Do not change installer or grid settings.
- 05Take another screenshot after five minutes. If meaningful export continues while the battery is clearly able to charge and the pattern repeats, create a ticket for meter and CT review.
ImportantA small or brief export while charging is not automatically a fault. Esena can review repeated patterns using the app screenshots and system configuration.
